We’ve all been there – you’re going out, got your favorite dress and highest heels on with your hair and makeup ready, but there’s one thing wrong – your false lashes won’t stick! Or they’re on, but they’re wonky, hanging off or pointing down.
When you realize that lashes aren’t one-size-fits-all, you’ll have a much better chance of making them work. Stick with us and we’ll show you how to put on fake eyelashes for a long, fluttery finish.
Applying false eyelashes properly is a true art form that takes some mastering.
Follow this simple step-by-step guide to teach you how to put lashes on perfectly every time, saving you time and stress that you simply don’t have time for!
Step 1 – Choose the Best False Eyelashes for Your Eye Shape
The sheer number of false lashes on the shelves can be intimidating, especially if you don’t know what you’re looking for. But if you know your eye shape, it’s much easier.
Best Lashes for Hooded Eyes
If you have hooded eyes, where the crease on your eyelid isn’t visible, thin eyelashes with a short band are the best false eyelashes for you! Try our 3D Faux Minx Doll Lashes for a natural, slender lash with an ultra-lightweight flexible band that hugs your lash line.
Best Lashes for Round Eyes
For rounder eyes, opt for a curled lash that will lift your eye. Our 5D Cashmere Faux Mink Lashes – Foxy have a winged effect that adds length from the inner to outer corner to enhance the curve of your eye.
Best Lashes for Upturned and Downturned Eyes
Both upturned and downturned eyes benefit from a voluminous lash. Our 3D Faux Minky Lashes are dramatic, full-on long lashes that add definition for a gorgeous, fluffy finish.
Best Lashes for Monolids
If you’ve got monolids (a lid without a crease) you want a fuller lash that opens up your eye. Try our 3D Faux Mink Wispy Lashes for a full feathery look.
Best Lashes for Almond Eyes
And lastly, if you’ve got almond eyes, where your iris touches both the top and bottom eyelid, you can take your pick! This eye shape is the easiest to pair false lashes with, so most styles work well. Your best fake eyelashes are all lashes!
Found the best false eyelashes for your eye shape? It’s time to apply them!
There’s no pain like feeling your falsies pop off at the corners, so it’s important to soften the band to your eye shape.
Gently peel the false eyelashes out of the packaging from the outer edge and start loosening the band. Wrap the lashes around your finger for a minute to give them some extra bend to help with application.
Step 3 – Time to Trim
Rest the falsies against your lash line to measure their length. If they overhang your natural lash line, you know they’re too long. They should start where your natural eyelashes begin and end 2-4 lashes inwards from the end.
Take a small pair of scissors and trim the spine from the outside – never the inside! Cutting from the inner corner can make false eyelashes look short and stumpy, which nobody wants!
Step 4 – Get Gluing
Dot a thin layer of our latex free, water-based eyelash glue to the strip of your lashes and wait a few minutes for it to dry until tacky.
Expert tip: Don’t make the mistake of applying too soon, you’ll end up with white glue all over your lids – and the last thing you want is ruined shadow!
Step 5 – Put on Your Fake Eyelashes!
It’s time to answer the real question of how to put lashes on. Remember, you want the inner corner to line up with where the bulk of your natural lashes start.
Use tweezers to place the lashes on the center of your lash line, then gently press the inner and outer corners down.
To merge the falsies with your natural lashes, take our Makeup Revolution 5D Lash Pow Mascara and coat your eyelashes. You want your real lashes to blend with the falsies for the ultimate natural look!
With one eye done, repeat the above process and apply your false lashes to the other eye too.
And that’s how to put on fake eyelashes! Our ultimate tip is to stay cool, calm and collected when applying your falsies. We know it’s not easy, but we believe in you!
