How To Apply Foundation And Concealer

When it comes to applying foundation, we all share the same goal of a seamless, glowy base. But let’s be honest, how often does that actually happen? The number of times we end up with visible pores, obvious blemishes or textured skin is crazy.

So many of us apply foundation and concealer daily without really knowing if we’re doing it right. With the overwhelming number of shades and finishes alongside the infamous ‘concealer before/after foundation’ debate, it can be difficult to know how to apply foundation and concealer correctly.

But don’t worry, your flawless finish is just around the corner with the help of a few foundation and concealer tips.

How to Apply Foundation and Concealer

Step 1 – Find Your Perfect Products

Perfect products = perfect look. It’s so important to find the consistency, shade and finish that suits you.

Always match your foundation shade to your neck to avoid the notorious orange chin strap (don’t worry, we’ve all been there). As for concealer, always go a shade lighter than your foundation for a brighter look.

Step 2: Prep Your Skin

For a flawless finish, you need perfect preparation. Start by washing your face with a radiant cleanser.

Our Revolution Skincare Hydration Boost Cleanser is a great choice to remove makeup, oil and dirt, while brightening the skin. Apply a small amount to the face, add a little water and massage in circular motions. Then, rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Step 3: Prime Time

Once clean, it’s time to prime. Primer is an absolute must if you want to create a smooth, long-lasting base.

Step 4: Apply Your Foundation

Start by dotting the foundation onto the skin using your finger or a sponge. Always start at the center of the face and move the product outwards. Remember, less is more! It’s much easier to build foundation than take it away.

Step 5: Blend, Blend, Blend!

You can either blend your foundation with a blending sponge or a makeup brush – it’s completely up to you!

Take the Revolution x Friends Blending Sponge, wet it, then squeeze the water out so that it’s damp. Avoid swiping the product over your face and, instead, repeatedly dab the skin with the damp sponge until the foundation is seamlessly blended.

If you’re not a fan of sponges, opt for our Blend and Buffing Foundation Brush. Use circular motions to buff the foundation into the skin, starting in the middle of the face and working outwards.

Step 6: Apply Your Concealer

Once your foundation is on, apply a few dots of concealer under the eyes to hide dark circles. Buff out using a brush or damp sponge, until blended and flawless.

Apply 1 dot to blemishes or dark spots and blend with your brush or sponge, building up if necessary. You can do the same for fine lines and wrinkles – just be wary of how much you’re applying. You want a seamless look, not a cakey one!

Step 7: Lock it in
